Introduction

My name is Horst-Uwe Weimann. I was born and raised in Outjo, where I attended school before completing my high school and matric at Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch, South Africa. After school, I had served in the Army and later went abroad to Europe, where I completed my “Meister” qualification in Carpentry.

Upon returning home to Namibia, I worked in Swakopmund for Horst Fritze and his team between 1995 and 1999, after which I had founded my own business, Weimann’s Carpentry, in 2000. Over the past 25 years, the company has grown into a successful and respected name, becoming a strong pillar not only in Swakopmund’s building sector but in Namibia as a whole.

Having spent my entire professional life here, I feel it is my duty to give back — to share my knowledge, experience, and passion for this industry. I wish to contribute more actively to shaping Swakopmund’s future, building on the strong foundations laid by those before us, and ensuring our town remains well-managed and prosperous.

Commitment and Leadership

I bring more than just dedication to the Town Council. Running my business successfully for over 25 years has taught me that when I start something, I see it through. I am known for being straightforward and a man of my word — qualities that have earned me a respected reputation in our community.

My focus will be on ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and effectively, using my many years of experience in project management to identify key issues, address them strategically, and get things done.

Vision for the Municipality

It is vital that the Municipality is run with the discipline of a business, balancing income and expenditure responsibly. I believe in the principle of “Servant to the People.” Transparency, accountability, and efficiency must guide all decisions.

Working together with the CEO, the municipal team, and fellow council members, I am confident we can strengthen our financial standing and deliver fast, high-quality results for Swakopmund. My vision is that every resident who walks into the municipal building should leave knowing they have been heard, helped, and respected.

Serving the People

An open-door policy is essential. To serve the people of Swakopmund, one must be approachable, respectful, and willing to listen. Residents must know that while we cannot interfere in administrative procedures, we will always advocate for them and help navigate challenges.

Active engagement, communication, and feedback will be key to rebuilding trust and ensuring residents feel represented and supported.

Key Challenges and Focus Areas

One of the main challenges facing the Municipality is its financial wellbeing. We must focus on responsible spending and ensure that every dollar is used wisely and efficiently. Overspending must be avoided, and new investment opportunities should be encouraged to strengthen our economy and institution.

In the coming years, investments will continue to flow into Swakopmund, and it is vital that development is well-planned and aligned with preserving our town’s unique character, beauty, and structure.

My Message to Voters

I want to share my deep passion and dedication for this town and its people. Through my work, I have helped build and restore parts of Swakopmund as we see it today, and I am eager to continue building its future — even stronger than before.

By voting for the Swakopmund Residents Association (SRA), you are voting for a vision of growth, accountability, and unity. Together, we can preserve the town we all call home — for ourselves and for generations to come. Let’s continue to build, nurture, and protect the Centre of Adventure that is Swakopmund.

Final Thanks

I wish to sincerely thank the Association for placing me in the number one position for the upcoming elections. I deeply value your trust and can assure all voters that your confidence in me will not be misplaced. Voting for me — and for the SRA — is an investment in your future and in the continued success of our town.
