My name is Rudi Deck, I’m a local business owner in Swakopmund. I entered local politics because I care about our town and want to help improve the way it’s managed. Through the Swakopmund Residents Association, I hope to bring practical experience and focus on what really matters to residents.
2. What unique qualities or experiences do you bring to the Swakopmund Town Council?
I bring the practical perspective of a local business owner who works with people in our community every day. I understand the challenges residents and small businesses face, and I know how important it is to find solutions that are realistic and sustainable. My experience in running a business has taught me to be accountable, make tough decisions, and get things done — qualities I believe are vital for serving effectively on the Swakopmund Town Council.
3. What are the top priorities you would like to address if elected?
My top priorities are improving and maintaining our infrastructure, ensuring rates and taxes are fair and transparent, and creating an environment that attracts investors to Swakopmund. Strong infrastructure supports our daily lives and businesses, fair rates protect residents, and attracting investors helps grow our local economy and create jobs. These are the areas I believe will make the biggest difference for our community.
4. How do you plan to engage with residents and remain accountable to the community?
I believe councilors should always be accessible and transparent. I plan to engage with residents through regular community meetings, open communication channels, and by being available to listen to concerns directly. Accountability means keeping people informed about decisions, explaining why they’re made, and making sure residents’ voices guide the way forward
5. In your view, what are the biggest challenges facing Swakopmund right now?
Some of the biggest challenges facing Swakopmund right now are the state of our infrastructure, the rising cost of rates and taxes, and the need to attract and keep investors. We also face growing pressure to balance development with preserving the character of our town. These challenges require practical solutions, transparency, and strong community involvement.
6. What message would you like to share directly with voters as election day approaches?
My message to voters is simple: this election is about our community, not politics. Every vote for the Swakopmund Residents Association is a vote for practical solutions and better management of our town. No matter your political party, you can still vote SRA — and together we can build a stronger Swakopmund for everyone.

But growth has to go hand in hand with responsibility.
