Elections are Coming
Why is re-registration necessary?
This new registration drive means that any prior voter registration you may have completed will not entitle you to vote in November 2024. Many people may not be aware of this change and could mistakenly believe that they are still eligible to vote based on previous registrations. However, the voter roll for the 2024 elections requires all citizens to re-register during the specified window. Missing this period means you will not be able to cast your vote.
What you need to do:
- Mark your calendar for the voter registration period from June 3 to August 1, 2024.
- Visit your local electoral office or authorized registration points to complete the process.
- Ensure you have the necessary identification and documents required for registration.
Why your vote matters:
Voting is one of the most powerful ways you can influence the direction of the country. By registering and voting, you help decide on key leaders and policies that affect not just you but also future generations. The government that will be sworn in come March 2025 will oversee vital aspects of governance, ranging from economic decisions and education to infrastructure and healthcare. Each vote counts in shaping these areas.
Spread the word:
In addition to registering yourself, it’s important to remind family, friends, and community members to do the same. Voter registration is a collective responsibility that ensures a truly representative democracy. Encourage conversations around the importance of voting and help those who may need assistance in registering.
Let’s all take this opportunity to exercise our democratic right and build a future we can all be proud of. Come November 2024, let your voice be heard!
