Rowan van Dyk elected as new Chairman of SRA
Annual General Meeting of the Swakopmund Residents Association
The Swakopmund Residents Association (SRA) held its annual general meeting on Thursday, 7th May 2024, at the Swakopmund Plaza Hotel. The meeting provided a platform for residents to discuss important community issues and elect new representatives to the Executive Committee.
Key Highlights from the Meeting:
- Council Reports: Councilors Wilfried Groenewald and Matthias Henrichsen presented their respective reports to the attendees. Groenewald’s report was accompanied by a detailed slideshow, while Henrichsen delivered his report verbally.
- Debt Collection Progress: The meeting noted that the Ministry of Safety’s debt collection efforts were progressing positively.
- Financial Report: Treasurer Rainer Horsthemke presented a comprehensive financial report, which was unanimously approved by all attendees.
- Auditor Appointment: The SRA confirmed the appointment of FCS as auditors, who continue to provide their services pro bono.
- Executive Committee Elections: The current Executive Committee was re-elected for another 12-month term. Three new members, Rowan van Dyk, Jost Kirsten, and Lienette de Jager, were also elected to join the committee. The allocation of portfolios within the ExCo will be finalized in the near future.
- Resignations: Mr. John Hopkins announced his resignation from the ExCo to pursue personal interests. Mr. Peter Koep also resigned from his position as the legal representative. Ms. Suzanne Frederich has been approached to take on the role of legal representative.
The Annual General Meeting of the Swakopmund Residents Association was a successful event that provided an opportunity for residents to engage in community affairs and ensure the continued effective operation of the SRA.
